Your primary source for help with Workday Student is the Workday Student page on this website. Consider it your source of truth as the training materials are continually updated. We highly recommend bookmarking rather than printing materials to ensure you always have the latest, most accurate information.
To find specific training materials curated by topic, like advising, records and registration, etc., use the filter under “I need help with…”

Office hours
Students, faculty, and staff can get help with Workday Student at virtual office hours.
Fall 2025: Virtual office hours on Zoom
Office hours are offered on Wednesdays and Thursdays through December 31, 2025.

Submit a ticket with the Workday Student Support Team
If you have a more complex issue, you can submit a ticket through the ServiceNow Portal. These requests are routed to the appropriate Workday Support Team members. To avoid leaving Workday@WashU, open a new browser window of this page and select the button below.
Call for help
For urgent issues, call 314-935-WDAY (9329) to talk with a member of WashU IT’s end user services group. The service desk is open from 7 a.m. – 7 p.m., Monday – Friday.
Workday mobile
Need help with mobile? The Workday mobile app contains some but not all of the functionality of the desktop version of Workday. Learn how to set up access to Workday on mobile devices and enable notifications.
Additional resources for students and advisors
Workday In-System Help articles
Students and advisors can find brief support articles and videos inside Workday itself via mobile or desktop. There, you’ll find student-centered support articles on registration, waitlists, Workday, and more. Advisors can view and share these articles to help their students but won’t find articles on advisor tasks. This information is also available on the Workday@WashU website, which is available to all authenticated WashU students, faculty, and staff.
Discover Help articles via search
After searching in Workday, relevant help articles appear in the Articles category.
- In Workday, search for a topic such as drop a course in the Search bar.
- If simplified search is enabled, select the Articles category to see related articles.
- If simplified search is disabled, select the Articles category from the More Categories.
- Tip: You can save and customize your categories by editing your category preferences.
- Click any article.
- Within a help article:
- Share the article by clicking the three dots and selecting Copy article link.
- Click any linked Workday tasks or reports to run them.
- Discover more articles from the Related Articles section.
Edit your category preferences
Use the Edit Category Preferences to optimize and expand your search results to include help articles.
- In Workday, search for a topic such as register for classes.
- Ensure that simplified search is enabled using the Simplified Search toggle switch below the Search bar.
- Click All Categories.
- Select Edit Category Preferences at the bottom of the All Categories drop-down menu.
- Drag and drop Articles to Pinned Categories.
- Click Save.
Add the Help app
The Help App directs you to Workday’s Help Center which lists all the help articles.
- In Workday, on the homepage, select the Global Navigation menu in the top left corner.
- Click Add Apps in the bottom right corner.
- Enter help. If you’ve already added the Help app, the system won’t return any results.
- Select + Add to add the Help app. Workday automatically saves the app. You cannot remove, edit, or reorder the required applications for your security roles in Workday.
- The Help app directs you to Workday’s Help Center which has student support articles on registration and Workday 101 topics.
Additional resources for faculty and staff
Workday Learning
Workday Learning is a learning management system integrated in Workday. Faculty and staff can complete and track assigned compliance-based courses and find additional Workday training materials in Workday Learning. From your Workday homepage, simply navigate to the Learning app.
Add the Learning app
- In Workday, on the homepage, select the Global Navigation Menu in the top left corner.
